My grandfather participated in the Normandy Invasion, landing on Utah Beach, where he was wounded. He rejoined his unit when he recovered and participated in the European Campaigns of Northern France, Rhineland, the Ardennes, and Central Europe. He was my paternal figure and war trauma wasn’t spoken about or understood during his generation. When I was about nine years old, I experienced an episode of his Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I won’t provide details, but it included a firearm. The memory is burned in my mind and when I looked at my grandfather, I could see he was not himself. That was the moment my desire to work with the military began. I have supported all branched of Department of Defense in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
